Simple Yet Festive Christmas Home Tour

December 18, 2024 by TwoPeasinTwoPods 3 Comments

Come along as I show you my simple yet festive Christmas home tour! I like to keep it simple for easy set up and easy clean up. For me and my family, a cozy Christmas home is made out of a live and freshly cut tree, a nativity scene, candles, and lights!

O, Christmas Tree!

We got our tree from up in the mountains 30 minutes up from us. I am not sure what type of tree this is but my husband thought it looked like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I kind of like the style of this tree because it isn’t perfect and has some character, while my husband likes the regular, perfect evergreen trees better. I have to say, this style of tree was definitely harder to string the lights on. Because it is so bare, it was hard to hide the lights in the tree. I think it turned out stunning regardless.

Artificial or Real Tree?

I like to choose a fresh real tree for our home yearly because it smells sooo good and you don’t have to worry about storing it throughout the year. There are beautiful artificial trees that look very real though if you prefer that!

Ornaments

This was my first year actually buying ornaments. Previous years I made all the ornaments myself. I made wooden stars, hung pinecones, candy canes, and dried oranges. But this year I thought it was time to invest into some beautiful glass ornaments. I got mine from Home Goods and boy, they have quite the beautiful selection. I had a very hard time choosing because they were all just gorgeous. I just went for the glass, white, and gold theme because those colors never get old around Christmastime! The ornaments only cost me about $30 for all of them!

Here are some similar ornaments from Amazon:

Velvet Ribbons & Dried Oranges

I also added velvet ribbons and dried oranges to the tree. I love the natural element that the dried oranges give to the tree among the fancy glass ornaments! And ribbon, who doesn’t love pretty ribbons on a tree? Also, because I have a 14 month old, I places all the glass ornaments on the top where he can’t reach them and put more of the ribbons and oranges on the bottom. He hasn’t pulled anything off the tree yet, so I guess it’s working!

Greenery

I love spreading live greenery with lights throughout the house as well. It adds an element of natural winter touches everywhere and is just so festive. I just love bringing the outdoors inside this time of year when we spend more time inside! I also make a wreath with live greenery. Check out how here.

The Nativity Scene

Jesus is the reason for the season, so we have to set the nativity scene up throughout Christmastime! We got ours from a local thrift store for $20 and have had it since we’ve been married. I like to put a string of LED lights with greenery and mistletoe on and around the nativity scene to elevate it. This year we put it on the bookshelf so that our baby can’t reach it.

Other Winter Elements

For the kitchen and dining room area, we decorated our hutch with poinsettia dishes, lights, greenery, and mistletoe. We also have a wooden calendar that makes it perfect to count down the days of Advent.

Shelving Decor

We have a wall of shelves in the living room that I like to put frames, plants, and some seasonal decor on. For now, all I have on there is a beeswax pinecone candle that my brother makes himself and other greenery and candles.
