Spring is the perfect time of year to deep-clean your home! I like to do it twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring. But the majority of people like to do it solely in the springtime because that’s when we have the most energy and motivation from cues in nature to get our home clean from top to bottom. Follow along our simple spring deep-cleaning checklist to get your home in shape!
As homemakers, it is our jobs to keep our homes clean and tidy. Obviously, our family can help out with this but it is one of our responsibilities. In order to not get too overwhelmed with this, we can do little daily things to make it easier on ourselves. Check out our recent post on daily habits to easily keep a home clean. Throughout the House
1.Wipe Walls & Ceilings
Over time, marks appear on walls and ceilings. I like to use this mop to wipe down the walls and the ceilings from top to bottom. You’ll be surprised how much dust accumulates and it’ll knock down any webs you may have too!
2. Dust
Going from top to bottom of every room, dust ceiling fans, lamps, light upholstery, and every surface. Take all the books out of bookshelves and dust and wipe all the books along with any other decor you may have.
3. Vacuum
You may need to move furniture around for this one, but vacuum the entire surface area of every room. We need to get all those dust bunnies under the beds and couches.
4. Shampoo Rugs/Wash Carpet
So much dust and dirt gets trapped in rugs and carpeting making it important for your health to wash them out at least once a year. Either hire someone to wash the carpet professionally or rent a machine for the day and do it yourself.
5. Mop
If you have any uncarpeted areas, after vacuuming the tile or laminate, mop the floors using your favorite mop or by hand with a clean rag and soapy water in a bucket. Make sure to get under any area you may not normally wash.
6. Wash Baseboards
You could vacuum the baseboards first with the brush attachment. Then, go over with a wet rag and soapy water or an all-purpose cleaner.
7. Wash the Curtains
Give your curtains a refresh and throw them in the washer or send them to the dry cleaners to get rid of the dust and cobwebs that accumulate.
8. Wash Windows & Screens
Wash all your windows from the inside and outside. This one really makes your home seem brighter and cleaner!

9. Clean the Inside & Outside Cabinets
Go through each of your cabinets and wipe them all out. It’s nice to get all the crumbs out and any other dirt that got in. Also wipe the exterior of the cabinet doors. They get all greasy and oily from hands touching them and just kitchen grease.
10. Deep-Clean Oven
Our ovens get so dirty from spills and what-not! Give it a new life by deep cleaning it out with just some vinegar and baking soda. I also like to use a magic eraser in the oven to get the tough stains out and clean the oven window.
11. Clean out the Refrigerator & Freezer
Wipe the inside of the fridge and freezer out. You might be surprised how much food you actually have in the freezer too!
12. Deep Clean the Dishwasher
The dishwasher can get forgotten during deep cleaning time because it is usually full of dishes and you think it cleans itself when you run it. But you’d be surprised at how filthy the dishwasher can get. Clean out the filter and wipe it all out!
13. Clean Out the Pantry
It’s a good practice to go through the pantry at least once a year and see what you have in the very back. Either use it up or toss it!

14. Deep Clean Shower
Using your favorite all purpose cleaner and baking soda, go to town on cleaning your shower/bath tub out! Also, if you have a magic eraser on hand, these do a really good job at helping getting the dirt out and making your shower white and shiny! If you have a shower curtain and liner, replace or wash them as well.
15. Deep Clean Toilet
Using our toilet bowl cleaner, get your toilet nice and shiny again.
16. Wash Bathmats
I like to throw my bathmats into the washing machine occasionally to ensure there is nothing gross growing on or in them.
17. Deep Clean Sinks
Give your sinks a little extra care by scrubbing them with a pumice stone or magic eraser. Take the plug out and clean out all the yuck.
Bedrooms Spring Deep-Cleaning List
18. Deep Clean Mattress
Take your mattress outside and hit it with the back of a broom or long stick to get the dust out. Rotate it when you bring it back.
19. Wash all the Bedding
Give your whole bedding a refresh and wash it.
20. Declutter Closets/Dresser
Go through all your clothes and get rid of anything you didn’t wear the past season or past year. Keeping your closet nice and tidy is easier when you have less stuff.
Conclusion
I decided to keep the list to 20 but it can honestly go on and on! Also, I kept the deep-cleaning list to indoor space solely, but springtime is a great time to deep-clean the outdoor spaces as well! I hope this gives you some motivation to tackle your spring-cleaning this season!
