Peter Rabbit Inspired 1st Birthday Party

July 2, 2026 by TwoPeasinTwoPods Leave a Comment

For my second son’s first birthday, I decided to go with a Peter Rabbit themed party! My sister-in-law gifted me an adorable Peter Rabbit baby photo album and scrapbook for my son when he was born so I decided to continue on with the theme. Come along as I show you how we staged this adorable Peter Rabbit themed birthday party!

The weather was abnormally beautiful, breezy, and just delightful so we celebrated outside on our back porch. In order to host a party on the back porch we had to get it cleaned up. So the whole week before the party my husband worked hard to build a large shed to store all of his tools and items that were stored on the back porch. It was perfect timing because he finished everything up as people we were pulling in. Not ideal but hey, we were hosting mainly family anyway and we knew they would understand if the hot dogs and burgers weren’t quite grilled when they came.

The Menu

As I mentioned earlier we decided to keep it simple and since it was outside just grill up some burgers and hot dogs as the main course. I fried up some French fries to go along with it and one of my sister-in-laws brought a salad. We pulled out some potato chips along with a veggie tray as if it came out of Mr. McGregors garden. 🪴 🪏 I’m sorry to say that I was in the midst of hosting and I forgot to take photos of the food.

  • Hot Dogs 🌭
  • French fries
  • Mr. McGregors Garden Veggie Tray with ranch
  • Mint and raspberry infused water with ice 🧊
  • Salad 🥗

Dessert

For the birthday cake I made a Russian cake called Chocolate Spartak from Natasha’s kitchen, a jello dessert with fruit in it, someone brought chocolate cookies, and we had plenty of fruit and berries. 🍎 🍉

The Decor

We kept it pretty simple when it came to decor. All we used as the tablecloth were these cute green gingham plastic ones that my sister in law gave me. I got beautiful garden-looking flowers from Trader Joe’s and put them together to set on the tables. Then, I pulled out all of the Peter Rabbit books that I had to display in the middle of each table. I also downloaded this cute vintage Peter Rabbit banner from Etsy and printed it out at Office Max. Because I didn’t have the time, I didn’t cut the printable out but it still turned out pretty. In addition to the Peter Rabbit banner, I printed out all the month milestone photos of my son and hung it underneath.

Tips for Hosting Outdoors

  1. Use paper or plastic plates and silverware for easy cleanup.
  2. Have drinks readily available.
  3. Arranging a buffet style meal makes it easy for a large crowd to get food quicker.
  4. Bring out candles when it gets dark for a nice ambience and to repel mosquitoes.

Hosting outside is so much fun especially in the summertime. My husband and I are currently designing our own patio furniture to be able to hang out outside in the evenings and when the weather is nice. An update on that coming soon but for now we hope you found this post helpful or inspiring! Thanks for stopping by our blog!
