Easy Lemon Vinegar Cleaner

January 31, 2025 by TwoPeasinTwoPods 3 Comments

One of my favorite scents is lemon. It just smells so fresh and clean to me! So, I used to clean my bathrooms, kitchen, and pretty much the whole house with just vinegar and baking soda. But let’s be honest, the smell of vinegar isn’t aromatic. But, I have found that vinegar sure does work! This cleaner recipe is the perfect marriage of using vinegar as the base infused in lemon peels for that fresh smell we are wanting!

What You Will Need

  • mason jar
  • empty glass spray bottle

Ingredients

  • lemon peels
  • vinegar
  • water

Instructions

  1. Place enough lemon peels into a mason jar to fill it up 3/4 full.
  2. Next, pour in vinegar all the way to the top.
  3. Cover, and let it sit for 2 weeks.
  4. Then, pour the lemon vinegar concentrate into your clean glass spray bottle halfway up. Fill the rest of the bottle with clean water.
  5. Give it a nice shake and get cleaning!

But Why Glass?

You might be wondering, “Why does it matter if the spray bottle is glass? Can’t I use a plastic spray bottle?” Yes, this cleaner will work in a plastic bottle as well but I prefer glass to plastic for many reasons. For one, it just feels nicer and it brings more joy for me to pull out my glass spray bottle when cleaning. Also, the vinegar can eat through the plastic with time and ruin your plastic spray bottle. Lastly, a glass spray bottle might be more expensive but will last you way longer than a plastic one.

Will Any Citrus Peels Work?

Yes, absolutely! Use whatever citrus you have on hand. Lime, orange, and grapefruit peels will all work great in this cleaner! I think adding a combination of all of these would make the cleaner smell wonderful!
