Winter is the perfect season to read more because there is not that much that you can do outside! It’s been raining a lot where I live which has made me want to cozy up and read by the fire. If you are looking for some new books, here are five that I would recommend every homemaker to read.

1. “Eat That Frog” by Brian Tracy
This book is not directed specifically towards homemakers but I think it would be beneficial for every homemaker to read. Tracy gives 21 tips on how to get more done in less time and stop procrastinating. A lot of homemaking tasks are mundane and have to be done again and again day in and day out. I like his mental imagery of “the frog” being that one thing that has been weighing over your shoulders and you really are dreading doing. He recommends “eating that frog” first so that you can get it over with and get to the things you are looking forward to doing.

2. ”Cozy White Cottage Seasons” by Liz Marie Galvan
This is more of a fun read because of all the beautiful photos! Even though my style might differ from Liz Marie’s, there are great tips and tricks she gives on creating a beautiful and cozy home. Galvan goes through all the seasons and gives great ideas on how to decorate your home for every season! She has you covered from seasonal bucket lists to DIYs and even recipes!

3. “Simpler Living Handbook” by Jeff Davidson
Davidson writes 1,000 different ways to simplify your life so that you have time to do the stuff that you actually want to do! Let’s be honest, no one wants to spend the entire day cleaning. He gives insight on how to simplify your home as well as in the workforce. Tips from planning a vacation, to getting out of debt, and even cleaning tricks! This one’s a good one!
Here is the book on Amazon. You can either get it as an audiobook through Kindle or hard copy.
4. “Theology of Home: Finding the Eternal in the Every Day” by Carrie Gress
This book is written by three wives and mothers who redefine what a homemaker is in our modern world. They explain the importance of prioritizing the home because it has eternal value. This book goes down deeper than just home decor.
You can find this book here on Amazon as well.
5. “Life Management for Busy Women” by Elizabeth George
This book gives great tips for the mom drowning in the hustle and bustle of a busy season. She gives practical advice on how to get out of a rut and organize your life into order and peace. Because Elizabeth George says she was a disorganized gal in her early years she knows what that is like and speaks from experience.

How to Find Time to Read
As in anything in life, you have to make time to do things that are important to you. Some moms say they don’t have time to sit down and read. While I understand that I definitely had more time to read before I had a baby, it can still happen. Because I do enjoy reading, I try to read every day in the morning after breakfast. My toddler just toddles around and does his thing as I sit and read. Or I will wait for his nap time to read if I really need to concentrate. If there’s a will, there’s a way! Don’t let your children stop you from doing the things you love!

I am a strong believer that reading positively shapes your brain in creativity and a fresh perspective on life! Instead of always listening or watching videos, actually sitting down and reading is an exercise for the brain. I encourage you to carve time out of your day to feed your brain good information!
