For Valentine’s Day I did a special tea towel project with my two-year-old. I love creating exciting experiences with my boys for special events that will also create lasting memories. Even though my son will probably not remember this craft, we will have a towel stamped with his hands for us to have as a keepsake. We had so much fun painting some tea towels with acrylic paint. These are great gifts for any galentines parties you might be going to or to hang on your oven handle when February rolls around for some festivity.
These tea towels could be just used for decor, or better yet, they’re super handy to have in the kitchen to use. It makes me excited whenever I get to use pretty things, so even though I will probably save the hand-printed one for my son, I will definitely be using the heart shaped ones all throughout this month. Hearts can be used year-round as decor, so we can use these beautiful hand-painted tea towels all year too!

What You’ll Need
- Flour Sack Towels
- Acrylic Paint(your choice of color)
- toilet paper roll

How to Stamp Hearts onto the Tea Towel
This process is pretty self-explanatory, but I’ll write out exactly how I did it, in case you’re interested. First, squirt the acrylic paint onto a paper plate. Next, form the toilet paper roll into a heart shape, as you can see in the photo above. Then, dip the heart-shaped toilet paper roll into the paint and apply wherever you’d like it to be on the tea towel. Keep repeating this motion until you’re pleased with the result.

On one of the tea towels, I stamped the hearts all over the towel. On the second one, I only stamped the bottom portion for some difference.

Little Hands Heart Design
This design would make a great gift for grandma! I’m going to keep this one to show my son how little his hands were in a few years. Better yet, we can make a tradition of adding his hand prints onto this tea towel every year and watch his hands growing!

To create this design I just dipped my sons hands into the paint evenly and placed his hands backwards that way the heart is seen in the right direction. Aren’t these little hands just so adorable?!

This is how our Valentine’s Day project turned out:) Let the tea towels dry out and then be sure to wash these tea towels in the washer before using them. Acrylic paint doesn’t wash off, which makes it a great option for this project. You could also use fabric paint if you prefer.

I hope you’re inspired to do a similar craft with your children and paint some tea towels for Valentine’s Day or really any time of the year! Thank you so much for stopping by Two Peas in Two Pods! Stick around and check out our other posts in the cozy decor category:)
See ya’ again soon!
