With spring cleaning season coming soon, today I am sharing natural spring cleaning essentials to clean your home without adding more toxins into your home!
I love to clean my home using cleaners and ingredients that are not toxic to me and my family. My son is getting to be that age where he loves to help me clean and I want to be able to give him something that I won’t be worried about him intoxicating himself with.

Why Use Non-Toxic Cleaners?
If you want to learn more about how and why you should use “green” cleaners, read more about it from my friend Meghan from Holistic Nurse Momma here. She shares 5 practical green cleaning tips like swapping dryer sheets with wool dryer balls, making your own cleaners, researching the products you do buy, avoiding antibacterial cleaners, and not buying air fresheners. Meghan also shares what dangerous ingredients to steer away from and why.

Natural & Homemade Oven Cleaner: Instead of using harsh chemicals that will linger and penetrate into your food, simply make this baking soda paste and let it do it’s job!
DIY Natural Dishwasher Detergent: Dishwasher pods are made using plastic and other toxic ingredients that we then consume on our “clean” plates. Ditch the Air Fresheners- Natural Ways to Make Your Home Smell Good
We all want our homes to smell good, clean, and inviting. Instead of buying toxic and way overkill (if you ask me) air fresheners, here are some natural ways to make your home smell good!
- Make Herbal Sachets!
Trina from Harvesting Quality Thyme shares this neat way to naturally scent your home using dried herbs. She sews the herbs into pouches and then distributes them in closets, drawers, or literally wherever you want! This can also help with repelling bugs and insects from your home and closets depending on what herbs you choose. After bringing in firewood, we started to get moths in the house so I want to make some of these sachets with moth-repelling herbs.

- Make a Simmer Pot: Before company comes or whenever you’re in the mood, throw whatever blend you’re feeling into a pot and let it simmer. A nice spring simmer pot blend would be slices of lemons, lavender, and rosemary.
- Light a beeswax or tallow candle! Instead of releasing toxins in the air, beeswax and tallow candles actually purify the air.

Great list! We use baking soda and vinegar for almost everything around here!
This is such a great list! I’m going to have to try your toilet bowl cleaner at some point! I typically use citric acid, but I’d love something that would remove grime a little more easily.
