Now that spring is officially here, we can start enjoying all the spring-y things! I thought it would be fun to share what is on my spring bucket list to encourage homemakers to enjoy this time of year too! I think spring is my favorite season. My husband says that’s what I tell him about all seasons when they just arrive. But truly, you can’t beat the flowers starting to bloom, being able to walk outside without a jacket, and soaking up the sunshine!

1. Plant a Flower or Vegetable Garden
Trust me, I am no expert when it comes to plants, but I do enjoy it and find it therapeutic to dig in the dirt. So, even if you live in the city, you could buy a few tomato plants or a plantar box and plant some flowers. It will bring you so much joy!
Last time my husband and I stopped by Home Depot, my husband let me choose perennial flower bulbs to plant! I was so thrilled. I chose Dalias, Hollyhocks, flowering sweet peas, and another variety of Dalias. Not only will they pop up year after year, but I can cut them and make my own bouquets all summer and fall long! I also got some yellow onions to plant in the garden. Sometime in April we are planning on planting some veggies as well. Stay tuned for a DIY raised garden bed post coming soon! My husband already made me a super cute raised garden bed so I can’t wait to share it with y’all!

2. Get Chicks
This is the time of year to get new chicks to continue getting good eggs. Our chickens are starting to die one by one because they are old already. They still lay eggs but that isn’t going to be a guarantee for long now. So, we are planning on butchering our old chickens for meat and getting some chicks soon. I know my son will really enjoy getting to hold and play with chicks. He absolutely loves chasing our current chickens around. And it will be nice to have our own chicken meat stocked up too!

3. Take a Weekend Getaway
As I mentioned earlier, the weather is so nice in the springtime. As homemakers, we can get stuck in a rut when we do the same thing week after week with no break. So, why not take a little break and get out of the house for a weekend with your family!? We have been meaning to take a trip out to the coast. I love going to the beach this time of year because even the succulents bloom this time of year and its not as packed as in the summer time. When you get back, you will feel so refreshed and ready to dive back in the mundane-ness of life!

4. Tackle Spring Cleaning
With the warmer weather comes more energy. This time of year is perfect to deep clean the house! I couldn’t have a spring bucket list without having spring cleaning on it. I have fond memories of deep cleaning and rearranging our room every Saturday before Easter Sunday. It was so fun to change up the arrangement of furniture in the room and get all the dust bunnies out of the room!
Stay tuned for a spring deep-cleaning checklist post coming soon. We do have a fall deep-cleaning checklist you can check out in the meantime.
5. Have a Picnic Outside
Grab an old blanket and have a simple lunch out in the middle of the wildflowers sometime. You will feel like you are living in a movie and the food will taste 10x better than indoors! And a bonus is you won’t have to clean up much afterwards. This is perfect to do in the middle of your spring cleaning because you can keep lunch simple with sandwiches and you won’t have to spend as much time in the kitchen as scrubbing your house from top to bottom!

6. Try a New Spring Recipe
There are so many fun recipes to try on Pinterest and just online in general. This time of year is so fun to experiment in the kitchen and get some new recipes under your belt! Springtime has rainy days too, so get to baking on those cozier days! Check out our spring focaccia bread recipe. You can have so much fun with decorating it too!
