How to Decorate a Boy’s Bedroom- Boy Room Tour

July 23, 2025 by TwoPeasinTwoPods Leave a Comment

Let me guess: are you putting together a nursery for a sweet little boy on the way? Or maybe you’re doing a makeover for your boy’s room and looking or some inspiration? Perhaps you just want to see a cool bedroom. Whatever the reason, welcome to my boy’s bedroom reveal!

We just moved my one-year-old from our room to his older brother’s and refreshed that space. Though this boys’ room is far from faultless, it is my two sons’ favorite place to be other than the outdoors and it definitely serves its purpose! This is where they play, sleep, and rough and tumble! I am all about practicality, so maybe this isn’t the Pinterest-perfect bedroom, but it’s perfect for them:)

First of all, this cool corner window is the focal point of the room! I absolutely love all of the sunshine pouring in, especially in the mornings. It provides natural lighting throughout the whole day too. I often read to my three-year-old in this rocking chair while the baby is crawling around. Or my older son will be rocking on his airplane while I nurse the one-year-old. The view out the window is my vegetable garden, which excites me so much every time I peek out and see a ripe tomato.

Next, the boys’ bunk bed is the largest piece of furniture in their bedroom and takes up quite a bit of space, but the design of this bed is so cool! Even though it’s not the best quality, it is sturdy enough for our boys to sleep on. We got this bunk bed secondhand for free, but it was in great condition. There are actually a lot of kid’s stuff for free that you can find on Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist, so search around before buying brand new and expensive furniture. Kids outgrow beds so quick, I don’t think it’s worth investing too much money in.

Anytime other kids come over for play dates, they all enjoy climbing up the ladder and playing peek-a-boo through the window. I found these full bedding sets at Aldi for super affordable prices. $15 for the comforter and $10 for the matching sheet set. My three-year-old has been into dinosaurs and he still thanks me for his new bedding- he loves it so much! The bottom bunk is where my one-year-old sleeps and it is a solar system style. I liked the blue color that suits a boy’s room well.

My mother-in-law knitted these adorable stuffed animals. She spoils her grandsons with so many cute stuffed animals. They like to sleep with them and play with them during the day too. All the details on these handmade animals are so precious!

My focus on the boys’ room isn’t to decorate it with extra stuff that will just make the room look messy when they’re using it. My goal is to set it up in a way that makes it easy to maintain it.

We try training our boys to help out from a young age. It is important to keep their toys decluttered so they do not get overwhelmed and are able to pick up after themselves. We have a basket with books and more baskets for toys in the closet. The boys can play with one basket at a time and when they are done playing, they place all of the toys back into the basket.

The last part of the bedroom is the dresser with all of their everyday clothes. This dresser is made of solid wood and is very good quality. We just painted it a grey color and switched out the knobs for these black ones. We usually hang up three frames above this dresser, but we need to update the photos on them before hanging them back up.

Last but not least, this airplane is well-loved by both of our boys. It is not only cute, but it’s also something that keeps them entertained for hours. I hope you enjoyed catching a glimpse of our boys’ room. Be sure to also check out our Winnie the Pooh Inspired Baby Boy Nursery post!
