Every year for as long as I could remember, my family would go camping for a week at the beach. When we were little girls, we didn’t have to worry about much, other than helping out with the dishes. Now that we have families of our own, we realized that as homemakers our job doesn’t stop when we go camping. We still need to get food on the table and keep the tent/camper tidy. Optionally, you can add some touches of personality with simple decor to make your home away from home feel cozy. In some ways, it is not as convenient to go camping. However, there are ways to simplify the “homemaking” while camping, that way there is time to enjoy God’s creation and family time.

Though I am not usually a rigid meal planner, for camping I do try to pre-plan all of the meals that way I know exactly what food I need to bring. It also helps to think through which meals should be prepared first, versus what food can stay fresh longer.
These are all of the meals that we had during our week-long camping trip. I hope this gives you some inspiration for what meals you can make at your next camping trip.
Breakfast Meals
- Ham and Egg English Muffin Sandwich
- Breakfast Burritos(great make-ahead option)
- Scrambled Egg and Sausage
- Croissant Sandwich
- Oatmeal with Berries
- Breakfast Tacos
- Skillet Frittata
Lunch Meals
- Hamburgers
- Hot dogs
- Meatball Soup
- Chicken Fried Rice
- Fish Tacos
Dinner Meals
- Shrimp Spaghetti
- Sourdough Pizzas
- Fish stew
- Roasted Potatoes, Grilled Chicken, and Salad
- Poke Bowls
This is what our menu looked like during our week-long camping trip. For breakfasts, we would make something fresh daily but for lunch and dinner we would sometimes have leftovers(that’s why there are only five meals in the lunch and dinner categories). For a treat, we made a delicious nectarine cobbler on our cast iron pan. The recipe is here, except we substituted the berries with the nectarines of course. You can’t have a campfire without some s’mores, so we did indulge in some of those as well. 🙂

Snacks
- beef sticks
- cheese sticks
- sunflower seeds
- fruit- bananas, apples, mangoes, pears, and watermelon.
- dried fish
- potato chips
- popcorn
There is a time and place for everything. Camping is not the time to be cooking five course meals. Keeping it simple is the way to go! What are your go-to meals when your family goes camping? Let us know down in the comments below. We’d love to hear from you!
