How to Make Liquid Hand Soap

August 30, 2024 by TwoPeasinTwoPods Leave a Comment

You came to the right place if you’re looking for a super easy, super quick, and super foamy liquid hand soap that can be made at home with just four ingredients. For the soap dispenser, I just used the cute little glass soap dispenser(as seen in the photo below) I was gifted at my bridal shower, but you can also reuse any good ol’ soap bottle.

I don’t know if you’re noticing a trend, but here in our two households, or should I say pods(haha), we’re gravitating more and more toward handmade products. Check out our post on homemade laundry detergent here and our all-purpose cleaner here. Not just because it’s cheaper to make it by yourself, but because we love knowing exactly what ingredients we’re using daily. I also enjoy looking around my house and seeing more and more of what I made with my own two hands! So fun and rewarding:)

Another added bonus to this whole make-from-scratch deal is that it is just so fun to do! Seriously, this recipe was DONE in like 2 minutes, which was perfect-timing because we actually ran out of our store-bought hand soap! I also love how this hand soap lathers up in my hands. Even my two-year-old son loves the bubbles it forms and begs to wash his hands;)

Without further adieu, let me explain how exactly I made my very own liquid hand soap.

What You’ll Need For the Liquid Hand Soap

  • 1/2 cup Castile soap
  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 Tbs glycerin
  • 16 oz water
  • 15 drops of essential oils(optional)

Step 1: dump all of the ingredients into your soap dispenser.
Step 2: shake up the bottle. Ta-da! Your very own handmade liquid hand soap is ready to go! Lather up and rinse your hands ‘til squeaky clean:)

Note: I used this Castile soap that was already with tea tree essential oil, so I didn’t need to add the 15 drops. However, if you’re using unscented plain Castile soap, you should add the essential oil drops to have a scent to your liquid hand soap.

Thank you for following along our homemaking journey here at Two Peas in Two Pods! Give this recipe a try next time you run out of your hand soap. Please let us know down below in the comments what you thought of this handmade liquid hand soap recipe. We’d love to hear from you:)
